Live Well - Ski Often
4/23/14: The lakes and hiking trails are still covered with snow, but you can now drive over Ebbetts Pass. Our store and gas station will be open Friday through Monday until May 9th. We anticipate our summer season beginning around mid-May with kayak and mountain bike rentals. Please check back for updates!
2014/15 SEASON PASSES NOW ON SALE!
Bear Valley lies in the heart of the Central Sierra between the Mokelumne and Carson Iceberg Wilderness areas. You will enjoy an extensive trail system of over 3,000 acres. Amenities include 38 trails carefully groomed for track and skate skiing and snowshoeing, the trailside Meadow Cafe, a complete rental, demo and retail facility, 4 trailside huts, picnic tables, park benches, two kids' ski trails, a waxing hut, groomed downhill practice area and a sledding/tubing facility. Trails are open from 9am to 4:30pm daily. The elevation of 7,000 to 7,800 feet guarantees first to open (usually mid November) and last to close (usually mid April) status amoung Sierra cross country centers.
Bear Valley Village offers a variety of lodging options, all walking or skiing distance from the trails. From ski in, ski out cabin rentals, to family friendly condos and a classic ski lodge, you will find a nice place to stay. Bear Valley is a short drive from the Bay Area. With no stop lights for over 35 miles and little traffic and no avalanche areas, all-weather Highway 4 (now a National Scenic Byway) is an easy driving route to your next winter recreation adventure. Nearby Bear Valley Mountain, one of California's finest mid-sized snow sport destinations, has all the amenities you come to expect at a modern area including 9 lifts and nearly 2,000 vertical feet of super scenic runs.
The Cross Country Center converts to the Bear Valley Adventure Company in the summer with bike rentals, sales and repair, flatwater kayak school and rentals, a variety of special events and races and is your connection to all of Bear Valley's summer adventures.
Our closing day for the trails and sledding/tubing was Sunday, April 13th. Thanks to all of our great staff and customers! We were open for 120 days straight with lot's of great skiing throughout the winter. We invite you to stay in touch with us and let us service your cycling, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding needs. This will be a quick transition to the summer sports up here. Give us about 30 days (mid-May) and we will be doing all the great things that Bear Valley summer has to offer.
