August 30, 2010 Update - LABOR DAY WEEKEND IS COMING UP!  NEWS FLASH! The last chance to experience Bear Valley Mountain's chairlift service for mountain bikers and hikers this season is Saturday, September 4th! The Lifts and shuttle operate from 10am to 3pm. Ride down to the village and catch a free (with lift ticket) shuttle for you and your bike back to the mountain from Bear Valley Adventure Company. Lift tickets are only $25 (with bike) and if biking isn’t your thing, $10 will get hikers a single ride lift ticket so you can take in the breathtaking 360 degree views at 8500 ft. and enjoy lift access hiking. (2010/2011  BV Mountain Season Pass Holders will enjoy discounted lift rates with all day access at just $20.00.) The 3rd Annual Soap Box Derby happens on Saturday, September 4th, with racing for all ages (they supply the cars), amusement stalls, food and a huge "yard sale" fundraiser! www.bearvalleysoapboxderby.com The Bear Valley Triathlon takes place on Sunday morning, September 5th, with a 600 yard swim, 10.5 mile bike ride and a 3.4 mile run. The lakes have fantastic kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding conditions on Alpine, Union, Utica & Spicer. The 18 hole disc golf course is getting lots of action - stop by to rent or purchase discs. The mountain and road biking around Bear Valley is world class! PAUL SAYS: We had our first snow (just a flurry or two) this past weekend. It made the riding a little chilly but both the Ebbetts Pass Century riders and the lift access mtn bikiers had a good day.
